“Implementing EQF-Sport” project was part of a process lasting since more than ten years intending to link all stakeholders of the Sport and Active Leisure sector (public authorities, social partners -employers and employees representatives-, the European sport movement, the education and training providers, and support organisations such as EOSE) to specific European networks/organisations collaborating with each other in the field of vocational education and training. the European
The content of the EQF-Sport was a direct outcome of the “Vocasport” project, supported by the “Euroseen” Leonardo project, funded by the European commission (Sports Unit) and run in 2004 under the scientific direction of the European Observatoire of Sports and Employment (EOSE).
The EQF-Sport project was organised through 5 work packages and the main objective of the work programme was to contribute to the development and implementation of policy and actions of Community cooperation in the field of education and training by looking to develop a strategy for Lifelong Learning in the Sport and Active Leisure sector in Europe. This development was envisaged in support of the elements of the European Sport White Paper published by the European Commission in July 2007 especially related to Vocational Qualifications, EQF/ECVET and with the goal of supporting the mobility of workers across EU within a quality assurance framework of occupational standards, vocational training and qualifications developed and supported by social partners within the sector and endorsed by relevant National Authorities.

MAIN TECHNICAL PRODUCTS DEVELOPED

  • A European Guide for the design of a European Industry Framework of Sport Occupations with major job descriptions (NEORS-08): research document that presents the European Classification of Sport and Sport-related Occupations (NEORS-08), result of a revise process conducted through the project. NEORS means “European satellite classification of occupations for the Sport and Active Leisure sector”.
  • A European Guide for the design of a European Industry Framework of Activities for the Sport and Active Leisure sector (NEARS-08): research document that presents the European Classification of Sport and Sport-related Activities (NEARS-08), result of a revise process conducted through the project. NEARS means “European satellite classification of economic activities for the Sport and Active Leisure sector”.
  • A Guide to developing a sector qualification strategy including: A Functional mapping, A Competence, Skills and Knowledge Framework, A Quality Assurance process: this guide was produced for those in the Sport and Active Leisure Sector working at the European Level and with the responsibility or remit to develop work based competence frameworks and qualifications for their specific sub sector within the framework of the European Qualification Framework (EQF) and the European Credit and Vocational Education and Training System (ECVET).
  • A Guide on establishing and strengthening the relationships between NQAs and the Sport and Active Leisure sector representatives in the EU countries in relation with the national and European Qualification Frameworks
